Days 5, 6 & 7 — At Mor’s

Catching up with days since we arrived at Mor’s (Norwegian for mother). So much happening with selling the old house and her buying a new flat across the fjord. Wonderful surprise to be met by my old college friend from Grimstad on the Norwegian south coast, whom I hadn’t seen for 30 years. Inger-Hilde had just moved to Kristiansand and came to meet us on the quayside with both her grown-up children, same age as our own kids. They took us for a quick stroll along the Kristiansand sea-front to visit the new Kulturhus (Arts Centre), a stunning new building with a wave shaped wooden roof and ceiling, not dissimilar to the Senedd building in Cardiff. How wonderful to find thw tone with a friend you have not seen in so long. The 4 hour trip down the south coast towards Stavanger went well as it was going dusk, and we managed to catch a ferry at 22.45 in the evening to cross over to home. The next few days were spent packing up the house, seeing flats, Mor (mother) bidding for flats, getting a flat, doing her crazy happy flat buying dance, brother and sister arriving to help pack and fitting in a few walks in nearby nature for a bit of escape from boxes and packing. Things are progressing well and we are pleased to be able to be here to say our goodbye’s to the old house, where Mor has lived for the past 47 years. Lots of things, lots of memories….
